Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weikum receives Konrad-Zuse-Medal from the Gesellschaft für Informatik
Prof. Gerhard Weikum, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, receives the Konrad Zuse Medal from the Gesellschaft für Informatik. He is being honored for his scientific contributions to database systems, performance optimization, information extraction from texts, and the automatic construction of large knowledge bases. The Konrad Zuse Medal is the highest award for computer science in Germany and is awarded every two years. more

More annual days of holiday for PhD students

In it meeting on 21 March 2019, the Executive Board decided to increase the number of vacation days for doctoral candidates with a funding agreement. They now receive the same number of days as employees covered by collective bargaining agreements, i.e. 30 vacation days. This applies retroactively to 1 January 2019 for all current and future contracts. more

Dr. Pawan Goyal, mathematician and member of the BiGmax received the GAMM prize (Dr.-Klaus-Koerper Award) for excellent dissertation in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics.
